The philosophy of language

Jan Woleński(Uniwersytet Jagielloński)

pp. 251-272

Résumé

The importance of the philosophy of language as a relatively autonomous branch of philosophy, but also one useful for philosophy in general, was emphasized in the Lvov—Warsaw School almost at every step. My intention here is to discuss the following issues: the conceptions of meaning, the interpretations of analytic statements, and certain ideas related to empty names. This is a very selective approach.
