Fantasy, resistance and passion as important aspects of the doctoral writing process
pp. 35-38
Résumé
The role of fantasy is central to a candidate's investment and attachment to the doctorate (Johnson, Lee & Green 2000). My particular fantasy of the academic that I aspired to be when I initially enrolled in my doctorate is associated with my background in critical social theory. My fantasies are also based on my deep respect and admiration for the radical critical scholars who taught me at both undergraduate and post-graduate level.
