Ruku likens the emotional, physical and sensory experience of my doctoral journey to diving. At times, this felt like running out of breath while being tossed out of control or held underwater by a churning wave. At other times, the ebbs and flows of mood or creative energies, the experiences of exploration, discovery and revelation were much calmer.
