Truth is historical in its proper being and therefore always related to time. It has the character of an occurrence and not of an object or entity. As such, originary truth as aletheia belongs to ontological appropriation. Heidegger warns about a translation of aletheia merely as "truth", because since Aristotle truth has generally been regarded as the correctness of the statement. Heidegger translates aletheia as "un-concealment", which points back to "concealment". The Greek word aletheia" is a composite of "a", a negating suffix, and "letheia", derived from "lethe", which means "oblivion". Truth as un-concealment thus means anamnesis; not forgetting; remembrance or commemoration. Poetizing is never a methodological proceeding, but means heeding the ways of aletheia.
