Previous chapters have included translations of research papers published by Alfred Tarski and others in 1921, 1924, and 1931–1932. They were accompanied by extensive background discussions of their topics and of Tarski himself and others involved in his career. The present chapter will give the reader a sense of the impact of that research, and it will provide references to closely related subsequent developments by Tarski and by others who continued his investigations.
